Champion Coach is seeking a highly qualified Sports Transportation and Logistics Manager. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate scheduling of drivers and vehicles for collegiate and professional sports teams, tours, and charters while safely meeting DOT FMCSA safety requirements. Candidates must possess excellent communications and computer skills (dispatch and internal operations software), be multi-task oriented, and enjoy a fast paced work environment. The Sports Transportation and Logistics Manager provides direction and support to ensure both internal/external customer needs and requirements are met. Candidates must possess excellent communications and computer skills, be multi-task oriented, and enjoy a fast paced in-person work environment.

Responsibilities:

Accurately utilizes drivers and vehicles to ensure traveler’s preferences are satisfied.
Ensures quality of service, driver and vehicle availability.
Monitors drivers to ensure preparedness (uniforms, keys, maps, itineraries, rest, wellness, etc.)
Reviews itinerary details for accuracy.
Responds to phone calls and emails in a timely manner.
Monitors and organizes time off schedules.
Promote driver safety and safe work place performance.
Evaluate driver performance and compliance.
Provides reporting and analysis for accurate planning.
Reports all accidents immediately to the Safety Manager.
Reports all vehicle issues as soon as possible to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Keeps accurate records, monitors drivers in relation to their remaining hours of service and equipment as to its availability.
Assists the Safety Department with FMCSA requirements and Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
Evaluates the effectiveness of current operations to ensure cost management and efficiency.

Qualifications:
Bachelors or Associates degree.
Proficient with basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other computer software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work well with others and must be considerate.
Extremely knowledgeable in the areas of destination geography, including expedient, cost-effective, and preferred travel routes.
Excellent customer service skills.
Familiarity with online booking tools is a plus.

Champion Coach operates a fleet of 40 motorcoaches, which consist of primarily Motor Coach Industries (MCI) model J4500. The fleet also includes Prevost H3-45 and Van Hool CX-45 model coaches. These coaches have been custom ordered for driver satisfaction, reliability and customer preferences with features such as leather seats, decluttered driver cockpit, air-ride driver's seat, power outlets and Wi-Fi. The average fleet age is 2015 with 60% of coaches being 2018 or newer. 

Fleet Maintenance:
Champion Coach has on-site maintenance and facility. The fleet has a rigorous vehicle specific preventative maintenance schedule and is consistently inspected to ensure the highest level of safety and zero down time over the road for drivers and customers. Overview:

GREENVILLE, SC: As a Service Technician at Champion Coach, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our motorcoach fleet. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our diesel engines and associated systems, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks to keep our vehicles in optimal condition. First Shift - 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday, Rotating Emergency After Hours Road Service (On-Call).

Fleet & Engine Data:

Champion Coach operates a fleet of 40 motorcoaches, which consist of primarily Motor Coach Industries (MCI) J4500. The fleet also includes several Prevost H3-45 and Van Hool CX-45 model coaches. These coaches have been custom ordered for ease of service, reliability and customer satisfaction. The average fleet age is 2016 with 70% of coaches being 2018 or newer.

The fleet consists of the following powertrains* & transmissions:

Cummins – ISM, ISX and X 12 liter series engines.

Detroit Diesel – DD13 engines.

Volvo – D13 series engines.

CAT – C13 On-Highway series engines.

Allison – B500 series transmissions.

*Company provides access to diagnostic software such as Cummins INSITE, Detroit DiagnosticLink and Volvo Tech Tool.

Facility:

Champion Coach has a state-of-the-art three bay service center designed to service up to three buses indoors simultaneously. Each service bay features Koni vehicle lifts or pit, fluid, air service and power. The facility features a full locker room with shower and parts inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnosis and Repairs: Perform diagnostics on diesel engines and associated components to identify issues and implement necessary repairs. This includes troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections, and tire rotations to ensure the continued reliability of our motorcoaches.

Safety Inspections: Conduct safety inspections to ensure that all vehicles meet regulatory and safety standards. Address any safety concerns promptly.

Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including drivers and dispatchers, to coordinate maintenance schedules and respond to emergency repair requests.

Continuing Education: Stay up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology and industry best practices through ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications:

Minimum of three years med/heavy truck, bus and/or motorcoach mechanic repair experience.

ASE Certification preferred, but not required

HVAC Certified preferred, but not required

Must have own tools

Technical School graduate or equivalent education, training and experience

Ideally have previous fleet experience and are familiar with diesel systems

Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required

Must be experienced with computerized diagnostics and fleet management software

Ability to use good judgment and decision making skills

Must pass DOT pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check

Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred but not required)

Company will consider recent graduate of technical school skilled in diesel engine repair to train.

Position Requirements:

This position requires you to transport passengers as well as manage luggage. Safety, quality customer service and professionalism are required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications to Apply for this Position:

  1. At least 25 years of age.
  2. A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement.
  3. Minimum of 5 years driving experience, including 3 year’s verifiable commercial driving experience, within the past 5 years, with 1 year motorcoach specific experience preferred.
  4. Able to lift up to 100 pounds.
  5. Good character and positive work history.
    • Consent to and pass a background check, a drug screen, DOT physical, and a performance exam based on job responsibilities.
    • Able to legally cross US borders.
  6. Good driving record.
  7. No more than 2 moving violation convictions/collisions, and no more than 1 preventable, DOT recordable loss in the last 12 months; no more than 4 moving convictions/collisions and no more than 2 preventable, DOT recordable losses in the past 3 years. In combination, not more than 2 moving violation convictions, and 2 preventable, DOT recordable losses. Speeding, tailgating, improper passing, failure to yield, illegal turns, running a red light/stop sign are examples of moving violations.
  8. No license suspensions related to moving violations or drugs in the past ten years (suspensions for physicals, insurance lapses, failure to pay fine and failure to appear are exempt under the ten-year rule).
  9. No driving convictions related to alcohol or illegal drugs in the past 10 years.
  10. Live within 50 miles of Greenville, South Carolina.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safe and responsible operation of motorcoach.
  • Proper and timely completion of required paperwork (DOT and company).
  • Courteous and thoughtful treatment of passengers and other individuals sharing the roadway.
  • Professional conduct at all times while on duty or while in uniform.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Have knowledge of and comply with all DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Have and practice the required skills to safely operate a motorcoach and handle passenger’s baggage.
  • Ability to maintain a safe driving record.
  • Ability to operate a motorcoach in all types of weather conditions.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form.
  • Ability to problem-solve, use good judgment, and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Be able to read and speak in the English language sufficiently to prepare reports and records, read road signs, and converse with the general public.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Often required to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Required to stand, walk, climb, balance, see, talk and hear.
  • Required to lift and push/pull heavy baggage.
  • Safely and properly load and unload luggage.
  • Fuel motorcoaches.
